This PP3 9V powered microphone had a preamplified circuit inside it, that enabled the level of audio to be varied with a slider control on the front.

In theory, if adjusted correctly, it made your voice a little more punchy.

However, in reality, it just made you sound a little more muffled when you spoke!!
