As the "Top Of The Pops" music finished on Thursday nights, I would race upstairs to my room and switch on the CB to see who was on.
.
I became increasingly more frustrated as I was unable to get through to the people whom I could clearly hear albeit on a signal 1 on my radio.

In 1983 this beast cost £86.95

I thought "With 120 watts I should be able to make them hear me...."
Well this little beauty got me heard......

Mate of mine sold me his when he gave up the cb back in 1986, this thing got me around the world when connected up to my ham jumbo and 5/8 wave antenna.
Back in those days people always thought you doubled the watts for ssb but you could do whatever you wanted it made no difference, if it was a 120 watt amp then that is what it pushed out on any mode.
120 watts on am got me all over the place and no interference as long as your antenna was connected.
i worked that amp nearly 5 years untill it fizzled out and died.
replaced with a 200 watt bremi thats still kicking ass today
i had brl210 it was on all the time with the lid of the dti have them now daniel op1 ch31 london the good old days......
The rating was about 80-100 watts on FM/AM and the PEP rating for SSB was [UP TO] 200 watts.
