The CB Radio Licence

.
The Citizens Band Radio Licence was required in order to install and operate CB Radio equipment legally.
.
There was a view, supported by many, that if the Licencing Authorities had your address on file, they would know where you live, and could therefore turn up and inspect your equipment if you were causing interference to local TV equipment or similar.
.
As if the investigators could not see your 18 foot tall silver rod antenna reaching high into the sky when checking the area surrounding the TV set that was receiving the interference!!
.
Apparently, from sources on the www, there were over 400,000 licenced operators in the late 1980's.
.
The licence cost, I believe, £10.00 when first introduced, and allowed the use of up to 3 radio sets on the one licence.
