For the more serious operator, there was the DV27-DX or the DX-27.

This was a helically wound antenna with I believe an electrical length of 5/8 wave.

Similar in appearance to the DV27, this antenna was a real favourite for people who were keen to get the best out of their applied power.

I have not seen too many of these antennas around, although there must be a few tucked away in the odd dusty attic here and there!!

The DV27-DX or the DX-27 had better bandwidth, and could cover more channels than the basic DV27, and therefore made it more desirable to those operators who were fortunate enough to be able to afford radios with greater frequency coverage.

Have just managed to get one of these of ebay, it was in a collection of ant's for sale, I saw it straight away and won the lot, good job the new DX'ers did not know what it was lol
