The HAM International TW-232S base microphone is right up there with the best of them.
Truly outstanding audio reports in conjunction with my Audioline 341 mobile radio were regularly obtained when using this set up.An internal PP3 battery powered the amplified circuit, and a variable gain pot was fitted on the top of the microphone, which could be adjusted for more or less audio level.
A sample wav.file has been created here for your enjoyment!
A locking PTT bar enabled the operator to leave the radio in TX mode whilst leaving hands free for writing notes etc...
Care was needed whilst setting them up, as they were incredibly sensitive, and unwanted background noise could be heard if they were set too high.
Not too good either if you had someone else on CB living close to you. The high level audio would sometimes break through onto other channels being used by local stations.
In 1984 these Microphones cost £34.99.
Probably one of the best microphones I have had the pleasure of using on CB, and sadly getting harder to find these days.
