Harvard Good Buddy

The Harvard Good Buddy CB Radio was a 40 Channel UK FM unit, and was unusual in that the Signal/RF meter was vertical instead of horizontal.

It had the usual rotary volume, squelch, and RF gain controls. The high/low power switch was located on the front fascia of the radio, along with a channel 9 switch, and the PA/CB switch.

Based on the Cybernet chassis, this little radio was popular in the 1980's, and they occasionally turn up at rallies, or car boot sales.

I had one of these as my "legal" rig in the 80's. Used to use it in a car on Sunday nights for the local 'foxhunt' Worked well and was reasonably priced at the time. It looked a bit different with the vertical rf meter in a world without mobiles or laptops etc.

Nice design, always wanted one of these, got one a good few years back finally! The vertical s-meter is win for me, but these are another rig susceptible to receive muting and/or bleedover when other stations in the same neighbourhood are transmitting. OK features, great aesthetics, decent mod and receive audio and quite good 'ears' when operating in a favourable environment.
