Imax 2000

The Imax 2000 manufactured by Solarcon comes from the same stable as the Antron 99.
.
The three piece fiberglass antenna comes pre-tuned for ease of installation, and will not require any adjustment to cover the CEPT frequencies; 26.9650 MHz~27.4050 MHz and the UK FM frequencies; 27.60125 MHz~27.99125 MHz.
.
No real data is available to substantiate claimed gain figures.
.
That said, they are known to be better on TX and RX than the Antron 99, and arguably, work as well as the Sirio 827 and Vector 4000.
.
You can find gain figures and other data on the Sirio 827 and Vector 4000 here, straight from the horses mouth so to speak.
.
Those of you who have experienced using the Imax 2000 will be aware how well they work, and that normally if you can hear the station the other end, they can hear you.
.
An add on ground plane kit is available for this antenna, and indeed the Antron 99.
.
If you are using the combination of the Imax 2000 and add on ground plane kit, perhaps you would care to share your findings with us on here.

First of all the bracket for the ground plane kit is Garbage. It will rust after 1 rain storm. Second the radials are not true resonance on 11 meters. I fabricated a bracket out of aluminum and bended the corners where the radials connect to at 30 degree angle as opposed to the 45 degree angle for best Take off angle performance. Then swapped out the six foot whips for 8 foot stainless steel whips from radio shack. This antenna is a real talker after doing this Modification. Best Regards. Not a bad antenna but i live in an area were we get actual winter weather. Lots of ice and snow and thats bad for a flimsy antenna like the I maxx. I had one break due to ice loadup and i replaced it with a aluminum groundplane antenna.
