Des, Nighthawk, from Swindon was a member of the Golf Romeo DX Group.

I think he was GR18, but can't be certain.

.

He was however very active on the CB in the early 1980's, and I remember when I was about 13 years old, I heard him calling CQ on UK FM.

.

He made contact with a station in the USA. I sat there astonished as I heard the station in 2 division returning to him.

He allowed me to call the station in the USA, unfortunately, I was unable to be heard, but Des chatted with the station for a while.

Believed to live near Moredon, Des could always be heard chatting with Bombardier and Ace Pilot; two other members of the Golf Romeo DX Group.
