The Pro Ham DM307P was a very simple pre-amplified microphone, and was ideal if you had a quiet voice, or if you wanted higher audio levels for whatever reason.
.
I am informed that these worked well on SSB, when more punch was required to drive your linear amplifier, and the little rotary thumbwheel at the top of the microphone was adjusted to get the required level of audio.

These little units were powered by an internal PP3 9 Volt battery, and in 1984 would set you back £14.95.
