Skipmaster SWR/FS Meter

The friend or foe of the CB world!
Put in line at the base of the antenna, this magic item helped many a CB Operator get their VSWR tuning done correctly. However, placed at the radio end of the coaxial line it could and would lead to some real problems.
Obviously, it was a good indication if the antenna system was set up properly, and in many cases, antennas were pre tuned, and these meters were just used to check the SWR.
Widely reported that leaving these in line could cause TV interference, they were consigned to the cupboard, and this is where this came from!
The Field Strength side of the meter was good fun to use.
There used to be a little antenna [sadly now long gone] that would screw into the little receptacle you can see on the left of the meter in the picture above.
If you walked around your car from a few metres away, you could see nulls and peaks in the field strength of the antenna. It was also handy to connect all your copper heating pipe to the chassis side of your radio, and then gleefully walk around the house...touching it on anything like th taps or radiators....and watch it "PING" accross the meter...... Well I enjoyed it anyway!!
