Those of you who have been on the CB in and around the Swindon area, could not possibly forget Mr Skippy-John!
.
"Ohhh you're a shark" He would often say.
.
"You've got fins, fins....ohh yeah" Was another of his one liners!
.
I can remember helping John set up a Sigma 4 when he lived in Penhill.
John, Del, and I, had assembled the antenna, in the communal garden by the side of his flat, and had just propped the ladders up against the wall to drill the 'T' and 'K' brackets.
.
We had just had a cup of tea, when I saw John waving like mad for me to come over to him.
With a whisper, John informed me that the woman who lived in the upstairs flat was a bit strange, and was staring right at us.
I thanked John for his concern, and was soon made very aware that she had the habit of throwing cubes of Jelly at people passing by.
.
It was quite intimidating fitting the antenna to the mast with Jelly flying past you every now and again, and I can't remember if we still hold the World record for the fastest installation of aerial brackets...but I should imagine it would still take some beating to this day!!
