Considered a classic amongst the CB fraternity, this box of tricks could be modified to have over 200 channels and operate on all modes.
.
The standard Tristar 777 had 120 channels, in three blocks of 40 channels, known as low, mid, and high.
.
It offered CW/AM/FM/USB/LSB modes of operation, and if was healthy and untouched, would give between 4 and 6 Watts output on FM, and 8 to 12 Watts on SSB so I am told!
.
.
The Low block started at 26.515 MHz [Channel 1] and went up to 26.955 MHz [Channel 40]
.
.
The Mid block began at 26.965 MHz [Channel 1] and went up to 27.405 MHz [Channel 40]
.
.
The High block went from 27.415 MHz [Channel 1] and finished at 27.855 MHz [Channel 40]
.
Until you got used to one of these types of radio, a Frequency/Channel chart was a great help to you!
.
This particular radio was based on the popular Cybernet chassis, and probably provided many of us with our first real DX experiences!
.
I used to love the way the meter light used to dim slightly as you pressed the PTT bar whilst transmitting into a dummy load!!

Ugly looking rigs but work very well, based on a cybernet chassis so receive is good but a little noisy..
These were ones the older breakers talked about back in the 1980s when they said lets go the graveyard to get away from these twats trying to key us out..
How i long for the days of mike keyers and music players, on-air soap operas between frustrated housewives and there many admirers all seeking the attention of those sexy sounding ladies, teenagers making death threats and keying out people..
Annoying yes, childish yes, but fun for sure..
Nowadays its boring old fags talking about there hf radio and giving out call signs on the triple 5 like they are all professionals when it fact most are illegal and are still using illegal bands and pushing out illegal power..
Times have not changed just peoples sense of fun has gone out of the window...
In 1984 there were 25-30 channels in constant use during the day and at least a dozen through the night
Ahh the nostalger
i remember the days when i could loose a full night just chating s#/t to total straingers (well i knew them through there "handel")
pluged my 777 up a few months back and scaned the chanels and found nothing but "dead air"! no-one!
was a little emotional!!!
Seems time waits for no man
