The DX scene was popular back in the early days of CB radio, and everyone wanted to hear that weak station down in the noise.
.
So Zetagi sent tills whirring with their new product on the market, the preamplifier.
.
Barry, and Steve, rushed out with their crispy £1 notes, and bought themselves the Zetagi P27-1 and installed them that afternoon in the Chevette.
On turning on the Harvard Good Buddy radio, they were horrified to hear a loud popping noise!
.
"Wait a minute" they thought, "The sound gets louder as we rev the engine!"
.
Oh dear....Barry hadn't realised that the amplifier boosted the noise levels as well as the signals.
Never mind, it was cool telling everyone they were +30 on the meter, and a radio 5, but embarrassing to tell anyone they were signal 5 and radio 2 -3 because the noise was amplified along with the signal.
.
On a serious note however, I am told these worked very well on SSB!
